Turck expands its product line with identification and sensor solutions for hazardous areas

13/09 – May 7, 2009

With the Achema show being held this year, Turck launches a range of new solutions for use in hazardous areas: Based on the reliable BL20 fieldbus system, the Muelheim-based automation specialist introduces a comprehensive RFID system for ex areas including the first intrinsically safe data carriers (tags) which allow numerous new applications even in zone 1 – from coupling surveillance to labelling of proprietary plant components to the preventive maintenance of drill pipes.

Besides the BL ident components, the Namur sensor product line will be another highlight for the field of process automation. All inductive, capacitive, and magnetic field sensors with standardized Namur output are now approved for dust zone 20 and gas zone 1 – many even up to zone 0. All sensors mentioned are approved for use in safety-related applications up to SIL2, in accordance with IEC 61508. Moreover, Turck is now offering sensors with the innovative TC terminal chamber concept and expanded temperature range (-40 to 100 °C) in the IP68/69K protection class.

Thanks to the new identification and detection solutions for ex areas, Turck’s customers can find the right product for any application. Special variants are no longer needed. Intrinsically-safe interface devices complement this comprehensive product line.
