Turck has completed the high temperature RFID package BL ident with data carriers for direct mounting on metal and special read/write heads

07/07 – April 3, 2007

Turck will introduce new add-ons to the high temperature RFID system BL ident in Hannover. Appart from a read/write head for industrial applications with an enormous sensing range of 50 cm the expert for sensor, fieldbus and interface technology presents special read/write heads for food&beverage applications in M18 and M30 version and recently developed data carriers which can be mounted directly on metal i.e. in metal environments. The data carriers are available as an economy and as a very flat high-end version. While the high-end data carriers are manufactured with a 1 mm shielding foil, the economy version features a large housing for the required minimum distance of 10 mm to metal.

The new read/write head with a sensing range of 50 cm, which will be presented as a prototype on the Hannover fair, is suited for the read out of data carriers and mounted on the bottom side of a vehicle. The device features a reader which is integrated in the antenna and thus makes the system resistant against interferences and applicable in rough industrial environments. The read/write head with the dimensions 350 x 350 x 25 mm will be serialised from the third quarter onwards.

Thanks to a new diagnostic procedure all read/write heads – even already mounted ones – can be operated without the previously required minimum distance to the data carrier. Furthermore, data carriers are read out with a time delay of 200 ms. A procedure which ensures that the data carriers are read i.e. written only when they are in the “correct” air interface of the read/write head.
